Trees Discovered In Sicily That Actually Grow Spaghetti
Spaghetti has to be one of the world's best traveled foods. Even people who have never visited Italy are aware of what spaghetti is!
However, over the recent years, pasta of all forms have been getting a bit of a bad press, what with the low-carb brigade denouncing it (along with bread and potatoes) as the ultimate evil for our waist lines.
This has led to the spiralizing craze.
For those who have been living on the Moon for the past few years, spiralizing is the practice of creating thin spaghetti-like strips from vegetables, and using this in place of traditional, carb-heavy spaghetti.
But now, get ready for the next food craze...........
Trees that grow spaghetti!
Deep in the heart of Sicily (where it is rumored that the first spaghetti was made by Arab immigrants) a local farmer has discovered a 'lost' species of tree that grows long noodles.
Through an interpreter, he said, “I cut some off and tried to cook them by boiling in water. They taste very similar to zucchini noodles, and taste fantastic with some homemade tomato sauce and Parmesan!”
It seems this species of vegetable was abundant in Sicily many centuries ago, but was then lost due to environmental changes.
Over the last few years, however, changes in the seasons have been reported in many countries, and Sicily is one of them.
Perhaps for this reason, Sicily is now seeing a rebirth of these trees which were thought to be extinct.
American food companies have already swooped in to help get this remarkable, low-carb spaghetti onto US plates as soon as possible.
And we understand why!
If you've ever tried to spiralize zucchini, carrots, beets, or squash, you'll know that, even with the best spiralizing gadgets out there, it's a real chore.
But that's not all. This miracle fruit (yes, it's technically a fruit) also has the ability to create 'negative calories'.
In other words, your body will actually use up more calories to digest this fruit then it will gain from it. Which means you can actually eat yourself slim!
As you can expect, American food companies are clamoring over themselves to woo this traditional Sicilian farmer, as they know that 'ready-made' vegetable spaghetti is likely to catch on, especially when no spiralizing is needed!
Here at Chef Remi, we're advocates of eating real foods, cooking home cooked meals, and avoiding processed rubbish.
So we're also very excited at this food news, and we can't wait to try out some recipes with this remarkable ingredient.
Trust us, as soon as we've done some experimenting, we'll be telling you all about it!
You'll be able to enjoy spaghetti bologna, spaghetti with meatballs, in fact, any spaghetti dish you want, without loading up on carbs, without spending time peeling and spiralizing vegetables, and also lose weight!
We can't wait to see spaghetti trees planted everywhere!

Preparing these “tree noodles” for eating definitely seems a lot easier than peeling and spiralizing vegetables! I would think the noodles to be a very interesting new source of fiber, as well. I want one in my back yard, although, I wonder if these spaghetti trees would even grow in places other than Italy.
