I don’t have Italian blood coursing through my veins, but I have to say I love Italian dishes. Put a dish in front of me and say it’s Italian, and I will immediately eat it with no questions asked. This passion of mine for Italian food even got me cheering for the Italian national team during the World Cup rather than the US.
Anyway, this obsession of mine started decades ago. And through the years, I have amassed a wide number of Italian recipes. From simple antipastos to main courses oozing with flavours, I have learned, cooked and ate them all.
And with that said, let me share with you one of my favorite.
You’re Ingredients
1 and a half pound of Ground Beef
A pound of breakfast sausage
2 cloves of minced Garlic
A couple of 14.5 ounce cans of whole tomatoes
2 six ounce cans of tomato paste
2 tbsp of Dried Parsley
2 Tbsp of Dried Basil
1 tsp of Salt
3 cups of low fat Cottage Cheese
2 whole eggs, beaten
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan Cheese
2 tbsp of dried parsley
1 tsp of Salt
1 pound of sliced Mozzarella Cheese
1 package of Lasagna Noodles
How to cook your Tomato and Ground Beef Lasagne with Cheese
Get a large pot and fill it with water. Thrown in ½ of salt into the water and bring to a boil.
Now get a large skillet and mix your garlic, sausage and ground beef.
Cook the mixture over medium heat until it starts to brown. Make sure to drain around half of the fat.
Now add your tomato paste, and tomatoes, along with your 2 tbsp of basil, parsley and salt.
Let the sauce mixture simmer for around 45 minutes.
Now in a medium bowl, mix your Parmesan, beaten eggs and cheese with 2 tbsp of parsley and 1 tsp of salt. Mix well and set aside.
Cook your lasagne until al dente.
How to assemble:
Place 4 cooked lasagne in the bottom of your baking pan.
Spread half of your cottage cheese mixture on top. Make sure to spread evenly.
Now sprinkle your mozzarella.
Top it off with half of your meat sauce mixture.
Repeat process until the entire sauce pan is filled or till you run out of ingredients.
Sprinkle the top most layer with parmesan before baking at 350degrees for 30 minutes.

My Fiancé owns a small Italian restaurant and I’m always looking for Italian dishes to make for him and our boys. I think he will love the breakfast sausage added in. I’m excited to make this for our family for dinner!
