Simple Sticky Buns
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Total time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings: 12
Soft, sticky, gooey buns. Simply gorgeous! OK, I don’t give my kids this treat every week (I’ll be peeling them off the ceiling as they have their sugar rush!)
But I love making these buns for my family as a treat. I used to pick up a pack of store-bought sticky buns every so often, but when I realized I can make my own in just 30 minutes prep, I just had to try. And my family NEVER want the shop-bought stuff now.
I’m a massive fan of Campbells Pepperidge Farm Dough Puff Pastry Sheets – no other pastry seems to puff up and turn golden as these sheets do.
Your Ingredients:
1 cup of brown sugar (light to medium brown in colour)
1/4 tbsp of butter (unsalted)
1/2 cups of chopped pecans
1 pack of Campbells Pepperidge Farm Dough Puff Pastry Sheets
3 tsp of ground cinnamon
1 cup of raisins
How to make your Simple Sticky Buns
First, get your oven on and heat to 400°F.
Get out a sheet pan and line with parchment paper. Now, get out a muffin tin (standard 12 servings one) and place it on top.
Combine 1/3 cup of the brown sugar and 12 tablespoons of the butter in a mixing bowl. An electric mixer will make this faster (and not wear out your poor mixing arm!)
Place about a tablespoon of this mixture into each of the 12 muffin cups. Now, divide the pecans into 12 portions and place them on top of each tablespoon of sugar and butter mixture.
Get out your cutting board (use a wooden one) and lightly flour. Gently unfold a sheet of Campbells Pepperidge Farm Dough Puff Pastry Sheets onto the board.
In a small pan, gently melt your remaining 2 tbsp of butter, and then brush half of this butter onto the whole of the unfolded pastry sheet using a pastry brush.
Sprinkle 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of raisins, and 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon onto the pastry sheet over the melted butter. Be sure to leave about one inch border at the four edges.
Now roll the pastry up tightly, finishing with the seam side down. If necessary, trim the ends, and then cut into 6 equal portions.
Repeat with one more pastry sheet to create 6 more rolls using the remaining melted butter, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of raisins, and 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. You should now have 12 rolls.
Place each rolled piece on top of the muffin cups holding the pecans, and the sugar and butter mixture.
Place in your oven and cook for 30 minutes. When they’re done, you’re sticky buns will be a dark, golden color.
Don’t eat immediately! Hot sugar can burn tongues badly. So leave to cool for 5 minutes before calling out to your family.
Mom’s Secret Tip:
I love how I can make homemade buns easily by having ‘cheat’ ready-made puff pastry. It drastically cuts down on the time needed to make buns and other pastry dishes.

Hello, just made this recipe and they came out great! I only used 3 1/2 cups of flour and 20 minutes of baking, which means you need to keep an eye after 20 mins. There’s soft and chewy on the inside and a bit harder on the edges. I recommend it! Thank you!

These look really good! What inspired you to use that type of pastry dough? It is very unique, but this recipe would probably be even better if you made the dough homemade!! Did the caramel nutrolls have anything to do with the idea of this piece? That is the first thing that these made me think of, I do like how you made this your own creation though!Thank you for this inspirating recipe!

I tried this the other day and they turned out to be awesome. They were super simple to make and they tasted delicious.i think that these are a terrific dish to make even for the complete beginner. The best way to eat these is with some coffee and to dunk them in the coffee.

I have made some sticky buns in the past but hate making them because they are so time consuming! This is a wonderful way to get them done faster. I’ll be trying this recipe this weekend for sure!

Tried this recipe earlier and it tasted great, the pecans really complimented the dish, maybe almonds would give it a different flavor as well for some people since pecans aren’t as commonly available. Great recipe :)

I love these rolls – I make them often because they’re so easy & tasty. I usually skip creaming the butter & sugar together for the muffin pan & just sprinkle in some cinnamon sugar & throw a dab of butter in the muffin cups before putting the rolls in. It makes the recipe even easier.
