Sausage Rolls
If you ever got to open my refrigerator, you would be surprised as to what you would see. Having to call myself a “chef” , people have this notion of seeing gourmet ingredients inside my ref. Though yes, I usually have some stored when I need to cook something fancy the next day, the usual occupant of my huge silver refrigerator are sausage rolls.
Why you ask? First, they're delicious, easy to make, and for me, the best home movie food.
Your Ingredients
300g of minced chicken
400g of minced sausage
1 finely chopped onion
1 crushed clove garlic
1 grated medium carrot
1 grated medium zucchini
1 cup (65g) of fresh breadcrumbs
3 tbsp of chopped parsley
2 eggs
1/2 tsp of ground nutmeg
Salt and pepper
4 sheets of semi thawed frozen puff pastry
1 tbsp (10g) of sesame seeds
Tomato sauce
How to Make your Sausage Rolls.
Preheat oven to 200°C. Line two baking trays with baking paper .
Now mix your parsley, breadcrumbs, zucchini, carrots, garlic and onions together.
Beat an egg and add it to the mixture.
Add in your nutmeg and seasonings into the mixture and then divide into 8 portions.
Now go cut your pastry sheets in half.
Place a portion of the mixture into the middle of the pastry.
Now beat the remaining egg and brush it on the edges of the pastry sheet.
Roll the pastry sheet to enclose the filling and cut it into 8 equal pieces.
Place them on a tray with their seams to the bottom.
Brush them with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Throw the rolls into the oven for 20 minutes.
Afterwards, reduce the heat to 180°C and cook for another 10 minutes until they start to turn golden brown.
Serve with tomato sauce.

Wow, this actually looks really tasty! I don’t really like egg rolls that much but you start throwing chunks of sausage in there and it’s a wrap. Literally! HAHA really tho, I’m going to have to make some later!

Thank you for the recipe. Yesterday I made this at home and I used beef. But, after making this, it was smelled stinky from the beef. But, I’m sure that the beef was fresh. Can you please explain, why It was happened to me?

It would never have crossed my mind to put chicken in a sausage roll – but what a fantastic idea. I really must try these.

Yum! I love sausage rolls. I ate tons of them when I went to London a few years back. Carrots, garlic and onions will give great flavors for the rolls.

I made these! They were incredibly delicious but I decided to exclude some of the vegetables (mainly zucchini) because I am allergic. They still came out wonderful and I will make them again in the future!

I don’t think I have ever had a sausage roll before but it does look really good. I don’t know that I would bring myself to make them myself, but I have some friends I might be able to talk into it.

These look delicious! Wasn’t expecting chicken in the rolls along with the sausage. The rolls slathered with a tomato sauce just sounds like they would really go well together. Thanks for the recipe

This looks absolutely delicious! Sausage is my favorite kind of meat by far but no one else in my house enjoys it. Is there any way to make this without using the chicken or is it needed for the right flavor and consistency?
