Chef Remi's Picks on Inspiring BBQ Feasts For Vegetarians
We’re continuing our BBQ theme today, and we’re concentrating on vegetarians.
Why?
We’ve had a lot of people contact us asking about what to cook for vegetarian friends or members of their family.
It’s true, when you think of a BBQ, of course there are many vegetables involved, but most dishes appear to play a supporting role to meat and fish (think of salads, grilled veggies etc).
For many vegetarians, attending a BBQ is usually a case of just doubling up on the side dishes for mains.
We wanted to help you make all the vegetarians in your life feel special (rather than just an afterthought, which is usually the case at a barbecue), so we’ve rounded up 5 of the best veggies BBQ dishes on the web!
Warning – these are so delicious, chances are all your meat eating friends and family will want to devour these too. So either make a lot, or tell them to keep their hands off so the vegetarians can get decent portions!
Grilled Bread with Thyme Pesto and Preserved Lemon Cream
We just love how lemon and thyme really come in to their own on grilled bread (much more so than on toast)
Smokey Bean and Spinach Sliders
Some bean burgers can taste dry, but these bean sliders are so tasty, we could possible give up meat! (Warning – Thug Kitchen is known for their profanity, so keep this in mind when reading the recipe.)
Chinese Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce
We love how this spicy garlic sauce adds a twist to typical grilled eggplant.
BBQ Spinach, Mushroom, Pineapple and Onion Pizza
We showed you how to make fresh BBQ pizza directly on your grill last week. Use those new skills to create this gorgeous vegetarian pizza.
Honey Grilled Bananas with Mocha Chocolate Sauce
banana and chocolate sauce on a grill – need we say more??

My husband and I are respectively vegetarian and vegan, and while we cook up some tasty BBQs at home, I have to agree going to friends and family BBQs means bringing a few dishes along to supplement the potato salads, corn on the cob and fresh salads. I particularly love the smoky bean and spinach sliders recipe. Thank you! We will certainly try this one out.
