There’s just something about homemade burgers. Perhaps it’s the fact that you know that no ‘gunk’ has gone in to them.

Or perhaps it’s just because you’ve chosen the best quality ground meat (everyone knows that shop bought burgers are made from all the ‘leftover’ unwanted meat from an animal).

However, an issue with making homemade burgers is that they have a tendency to fall apart on the grill.

Shop bought burgers have a lot of fillers that ‘glue’ the burger together. This is not the case with homemade burgers.

I’ve tried making burgers where I flatten down a ball of burger mixture using my hands.

What usually happens is that either I’ve flattened the burgers too much and they fall apart when grilling, or I’ve been overly cautious and have created round, bulbous patties.

That was until I discovered the burger press. What a clever yet simple tool this is!

I wouldn’t even think of making burgers now without having a burger press next to me. It creates the perfect thickness of patties; flattened enough without becoming so thin that they fall apart.

Here’s My Step-By-Step Guide On Using A Burger Press.

1) Scoop up to 1/2 pound of burger mix and roll into a ball with your hands

No matter if your burger mix is made up of ground beef, chicken, turkey or pork, it needs to be even.

Then scoop up to 1/2 pound of the mixture into your hands and roll until you get an even, spherical ball.

2) Place into the burger press tray and press down a little with fingers

Using your fingers to flatten the ball slightly will help the burger press to make more even burgers.

3) Use a burger press that has interior ridges to give patties a gorgeous seared look

Using a burger press with ridges on the inside will give all your patties a lovely ribbed surface.

4) Place the burger press on top and press firmly down using the handle

Make sure you look for a burger press with a non-slip handle. Trust me, when you’re making a load of patties for a BBQ, your hands can get really slick with meat juices.

A non-stick handle will help you apply pressure evenly so you get perfect patties each time, without having to keep washing your hands!

5) Turn the burger press tray upside down to remove your patty.

Opt for a burger press that has a nonstick coating as, otherwise, your patty might stick inside the tray, and you end up damaging it by trying to use a knife or other utensil to dislodge it.

A nonstick coating will make your patties fall out effortlessly onto a platter.

I didnt know burgers needs to be cooked like that.Till now I was just making the simple burger without the burger press. The line by line tips and recipe were much more helpful . Hope i can now make a better and healthier burgers . And also thanks for the full instructions , some the ingredients are new for me, though I am will give a try with those.

This is my second of this particular brush. I like the first one very much and it lasted through many cleanings. It was also very strong. I have broken some lesser made brushes. My only complaint is that the first one had a hook on it that I could hang in a specific spot on the grill. I ordered this one specifically because I though it would have the hook on the end like it predecessor. Alas, it didn't. We drilled the end and installed a hook ourselves. I would have given it 5 stars had it come with the hook attached. I would suggest not removing the hook for future orders. (It still shows in the picture on the website)
