Classic margherita pizza
Preparation time: 10 minutesCooking time: 31 minutes
Total time: 41 minutes
Servings: 4
A classic margherita pizza is one of the simplest pizzas you can make. But with this simplicity comes years of tradition and history related to a peasant dish that the entire world fell in love with.
So if you are looking for a quick eat while watching a movie at home, then you can never go wrong with this one.
Your Ingredients:
1 tbsp of olive oil1/2 pizza crust
2 cloves of finely chopped, roasted garlic
1/4 cup of pizza or tomato sauce
8 ounces of mozzarella cheese, sliced into 1/2 inch thick pieces
2 sliced plum tomatoes
A handful of fresh basil
Fresh ground pepper
How to make your classic margherita pizza
Now get a small dish and mix your chopped garlic with olive oil.
Set aside and allow the garlic to absorb the oil. Best is to wait for around 15 minutes.
Once done, spread the garlic and olive mixture on your pizza crust.
Now spread your pizza sauce over your pizza crust, add in the mozzarella slices and your tomatoes.
Throw the crust into the oven for 16 minutes until the crust becomes brown and the cheese starts to bubble.
Slice and serve hot.

That looks better than little cesars pizza, honestly this deserves a lot of attention.

Margherita is absolutely one of my favorite types of pizzas! I love caprese, and this is basically caprese on a pizza! I also prefer thin crust so this is the perfect pizza for me!
You wouldn’t expect thick slices of mozzarella to melt all over the pizza, but it does!

Delicious recipe! Very flavourful and it is quite healthy as well. I will definitely be cooking this recipe again and again. It was surprisingly easy. This is actually the first pizza I have ever made and I am very proud. The basil was my favourite part. This pizza preserves really well too and I would say is even better the day after.

One of the pizza places here in Edmonton is run by an Italian family that makes authentic Italian pizza. It’s some of the best I’ve ever tasted, in fact. I order the Margherita pizza there sometimes, and I’ve often wanted to make the same recipe at home. This appears to be really similar to the recipe they use. I can’t wait to try it out next time I’m cooking pizza! For the crust, would you recommend 00 flour?

This is one of my favorite, easy recipes to make at home. Although I am curious as to the dough used when making this recipe. I read that you used a pizza dough crust, but do you buy that from the store or do you make your own. This was the only thing I was unclear about, thank you.

i tried it and my company thought I had it delivered, it turned out just like the picture! It was so easy! I`m definitely keeping this one in my recipe book! I love how it required no special ingredients, all stuff I usually keep stocked at home. :)

I love the idea of spreading the olive oil and garlic on the pizza. I have attempted to make home-made pizza before. May I ask a question? What is the secret to rolling out the dough properly? Also in this recipe, which I can’t wait to try, can you clarify that we are using 1/2 of pizza dough? Thanks.

My partner loves margherita pizza, however I find it very boring. After reading your writing about it I am excited to cook this for him!

Hmm Hmm Hmm Gota love a simple but delicious pizza. Its funny how something so simple can be done so wrong, but this is a classic recipe. I really like the use of Plum tomatoes. I usually go with Romas but now I have to try the plum tomatoes
