Beef in Gorgonzola Sauce
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes

No other dish brightens up my husband’s face than a big ole slab of steak. Yes, it’s the ultimate man food in my opinion. Maybe the thought of eating a bloody slab of meat triggers some primordial gene that indirectly reminds him of the hunting days of early man. He even jokes that, a man that doesn’t enjoy a good piece of steak is not a man. Ok, I won’t argue with him about that, unless I want to see him bang on his chest and do whatever it is men do to make think they’re the dominant species.
Anyway, I love playing tricks on my husband, as much as he loves playing pranks on me. So for this Valentines week, I thought of messing with his head by showing, and cooking, and huge piece of flank steak, and then turn it into a Beef in Gorgonzola Sauce.
Don’t get me wrong, the dish is absolutely delicious. But the confusion on my husband face while eating a dish that is technically not a steak, priceless.
Your Ingredients:
Salt and freshly ground black pepper1 1/2-pound of flank steak
For the Gorgonzola Cream Sauce
1 tablespoon butter
1 shallot, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 pound Gorgonzola
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
How to make your Beef in Gorgonzola Sauce
Your first need to make your Gorgonzola Cream Sauce;
Go get a medium sized saucepan, place it over medium heat and start melting your butter.
Thrown in your shallots and sauté till they become tender.
Next, add in your heavy cream and allow it to reduce by half.
Turn the heat down to low, add in the Gorgonzola and continuously stir till it melts.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Now for your meat;
Get a pan grill and put it over medium heat.
Get your steak and season it with salt and pepper.
Throw the steak into the grill and cook each side for 6 minutes. This will make the steak medium rare.
Remove the steak from heat and make a tent over it using an aluminium foil.
Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before cutting it into 1/8 inch thick pieces.
Once done, transfer the steak into a plate and pour your Gorgonzola Cream Sauce over it.

Steak, the best way to a man’s heart! I love that you cook the steak properly and don’t overcook it, and the use of butter truly brings out the flavor of a good cut of meat!

Looks yummy! :) I do want to know if I could substitute another cheese instead of Gorgonzola, and if so will it effect the flavor of the dish? Thanks again – Monaca

I love how you found a way of changing just a genric “slab of steak” and turning it into a romantic and somewhat fancy dish simply by adding a bit of Gorgonzola on top!

Nothing I love more than a nice juicy steak, especially in a creamy gorgonzola sauce. My family and I try to do a special meal once a month. This recipe would be perfect for one of our fancier get togethers.

This is definitely something I want to try! Because I am a meat eater mostly. I enjoy the flavor of beef and Gorgonzola cheese in other dishes prepared over fettuccine and various other pastas; it’s a really tasty combination. The steak with the cheese, alfredo or other sauce(depending on personal taste) is an awesome dinnertime meal.
