3 Essential Kitchen Items For Hand Mobility Issues
Having issues with hand mobility is no joking matter.
Our hands are what we use to feel the world around us, and not being able to grip properly, whether that’s through a temporary injury, or something more permanent, such as arthritis or fibromyalgia, it can be quite debilitating when we’re unable to do basic tasks around the kitchen.
Here at Chef Remi, we’re always looking to make cooking easier. But it’s not just busy families we want to help. We want to create products that are also easy to use for anyone who has hand mobility issues.
We’ve started a line of products that are designed for everyone to use, but we’ve added in bonus features so that anyone with hand mobility issues can also enjoy cooking.
Let’s take a look at some of our products….
1) A stuck jar lid is annoying for anyone. But it can be really frustrating for someone who has hand mobility issues, particularly as the automatic assumption is that the lid isn’t really all that stuck, and it’s because of the inability to grip properly.
Top Features:
The Chef Remi Jar Opener has rubber sidings that grip tightly, even on slippery surfaces.
And its lever action will give you ten times more leverage, so that everyone has the strength to open any lid, even with limited hand strength mobility.
Worried about all the different sizes of jars? Our jar opener has eight different sizes of circular openings, which means it will fit nearly any size of jar lid available on the market today!
2) Trying to move and flip foods on the stove can be particularly difficult for those with hand mobility issues – and dangerous too!
Top Features:
The Chef Remi Kitchen Spatula Set has been designed with soft, flexible handles, so the palms of your hands never hurt.
We’ve also added finger molds so your fingers are placed in exactly the correct position for comfort as well as control when moving and flipping foods.
We’ve noticed some other manufacturers have added cushioned handles, but adding cushioning can also lead to lack of grip.
To counteract this, we’ve added extra grip on the underside of each handle, so you’re not just completely comfortable, you’re also in complete control of your food at all times.
3) Opening cans is one of the biggest problems for anyone with hand mobility issues.
The gripping of the handles are, of course, a problem. But add to that having to turn a knob, and this simple task can quickly become impossible!
Top Features:
The Chef Remi Can Opener has large cushioned handles for comfort. But they are also coated in a non-slip material to give you grip.
Then, we’ve added a large 360 degree turning knob, which allows you to turn in small increments without bending your fingers too much.
We’ve also coated the knob in the same non slip material as the handles, so you have good grip and are in complete control whilst cutting open a can.
We’re looking to add even more products that are great for everyone, but have the extra features to help our customers with hand mobility issues.
Why don’t you help us? What ‘small’ tasks are you having problems with in the kitchen? What products and features would you like to see us offer?
Let us know, and we might just be able to help you!

Sounds like some useful items I can add to my kitchen. As I get older, I just don’t have the strength I used to in my hands.
The jar opener and the can opener would be a tremendous help to me.

After reading this post, I have a few people in mind that I’m going to share it with. I know my mom would really benefit from reading it. I think that a gadget that that safely poke holes in squash would be great. Right now, we use a fork or knife before putting it in the microwave.
