How To Make Christmas Eggnog Pie
Scrumptious, sweet and flaky pie is an absolute must at Christmas. I adore traditional buttermilk pie, and a year ago I decided to do a little experiment and give it a Holiday twist.
All I did was take out the buttermilk and add in eggnog! It’s become a real favorite with my family, and it’s sure to delight your family!
You can use premade, frozen pie crusts, but I really urge you to make your own as nothing beats the buttery flakiness of homemade.
Watch me make homemade pie crust, step by step here. And then, just follow the recipe below!
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 40mins
Total time: 55 mins
Servings: 8
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups of white sugar
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of eggnog
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust (thawed if premade frozen, or make your own crust)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Measure out your sugar, flour and eggnog using Chef Remi Measuring Cups.
Our cups can be used for both dry and liquid ingredients, unlike cups that resemble oversized spoons, and they’re very lightweight and portable, unlike heavy Pyrex or glass cups, so anyone can use them without accidents.
- Place the flour and sugar into a large mixing bowl and mix together. In a separate small bowl, break the eggs, and beat well using a small balloon whisk.
We recommend using the Chef Remi Kitchen Whisk Set as they are extremely lightweight and they are made from food-grade silicone, so they will never scratch your expensive nonstick cookware and bakeware.
- Place a saucepan on low heat and add the butter. Allow the butter to melt, but do not allow it to bubble and foam. Set aside to cool.
- Add the beaten eggs, eggnog and vanilla to the large mixing bowl containing the sugar and flour. Beat well using a flexible spatula.
We recommend using the Chef Remi 3 Piece Spatula Set as the thin, flexible food grade silicone can scrape and mix batter, pie filling and dough thoroughly without leaving lumps.
- Now pour in the melted butter and beat well to combine. Pour the mixture into your prepared pie crust.
- Place into the oven for 35-40 minutes until the custard sets. Allow to cool before serving.
Merry Christmas!
