How To Make Christmas Cookies
We really don’t have much room left in our stomachs after Christmas dinner, but even those who complain their ‘stuffed’ will find room for these delicious, chewy cookies!
Preparation time: 20mins
Cooking time: 8 mins (plus 2 hours cooling time)
Total time: 2 hours and 28 mins
Ingredients:
- 3 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of soft margarine
- 1 1/2 cups of white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- Colored sugar for decoration
Directions:
- Measure out your flour using Chef Remi Measuring Cups. Our cups are very lightweight and portable, unlike heavy Pyrex or glass cups, so anyone can use them without accidents.
- When making cookies, exact measurements are essential as even the slightest variations can make a massive difference to how they turn out.
Measure out your baking powder and salt using Chef Remi Measuring Spoons, which have rims and handles that are level on each spoon, so you get the most precise measurement.
- Sift the flour, baking soda and salt together into a bowl, and set aside.
- In another large bowl, combine the margarine and sugar with a spatula till it is light and fluffy.
We recommend using the Chef Remi 3 Piece Spatula Set as the thin, flexible food grade silicone can scrape and mix thoroughly without leaving lumps.
- Add one egg at a time into the mixture and beat well. Now add the vanilla extract and mix.
- Add the flour gradually into the bowl, mixing and blending well using your spatula, until fully absorbed.
- Cover your cookie dough and place into the fridge to chill for 2 hours.
- Heat your oven to 400°F and grease your cookie sheets.
- Flour your kitchen worktop and roll out small portions of the chilled cookie dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness. Use holiday shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies, such as Christmas trees or snowmen.
- Place your cookies onto cookie sheets and sprinkle with colored sugar.
- Cook in the oven for 7-8 minutes, till the edges are just turning brown.
- Use a slotted spatula to remove each cookie from the cookie sheet and place onto a wire rack to cool. Don’t use a solid spatula as the cookies might stick to it!
We recommend you use the Chef Remi 2 Piece Kitchen Spatula Set as they are made from food-safe nylon, so they will never scratch nonstick, Teflon or coated sheets, trays and pans, even when you are scraping up food.
Merry Christmas!
